Pre-Teen All Stars Volunteer Training
(Open to middle or junior high school students in grades 6-8)

  • Students may volunteer in areas assigned by program staff upon graduation from Level 3

Teen All Stars Volunteer Training
(Open to high school students in grades 9-12)

  • Students may volunteer in areas assigned by program staff upon graduation from Level 3

Advanced Dog Workshops
High School students may take advanced dog workshops after completion of Level III.


Pre-Teen All Stars Volunteer Training

RegisterTo become a pre-teen All Star volunteer, students participate in three multi-week trainings. A one time fee of $200 covers all training classes and workshops. Classes are held weekly throughout the school year and in intensive summer programs.

Pre-Teen All Stars Level 1, 2 & 3 Intensive new
Grades 6-8
An intensive session of volunteer training will offered during Spring Break: April 5 – 9, 2010. This session will cover the materials taught in Levels 1, 2, and 3. No make-ups will be given for missed classes this week. Students must remain in training for the full three hours each day. Snacks will be provided.

Day Time Cost Duration
Daily 1:30 - 4:30 p.m $225 5 days, April 5 - 9, 2010

Pre-Teen All Stars Level 1
Grades 6-8
This educational program is open exclusively to middle school students who are willing to demonstrate an enthusiastic interest in learning more about companion animals and who are willing to share this knowledge with others. Cat body language, behavior, care and socialization will be the focus of this class. This is step one to becoming a junior volunteer for ARF. Students will need to pass an evaluation process in order to move to Level II.

Day Time Cost Duration
Tuesday 4 - 5 p.m $200 5 weeks starting 2/9/10 FULL CLASS

Pre-Teen All Stars Level 2
Grades 6-8
After completing Level I, Pre-Teen All Stars will move to the next educational level. Dog body language, behavior, care and socialization will be the focus of this class. This is step two to becoming a junior volunteer for ARF. Students will need to pass an evaluation process in order to move to Level III.

Wednesday 4 - 5 p.m. Included 5 weeks starting 3/17/10* FULL CLASS
* There will be no class on 4/7/10.

Pre-Teen All Stars Level 3
Grades 6-8
After successful completion of Levels I and II, students will begin on the job training as a Teen All-Star volunteer. Level III Teens will learn specific tasks each week, and, after receiving passing evaluations, teens will be certified to perform a variety of duties.

Thursday 4 - 5 p.m. Included 5 weeks starting 4/29/10 FULL CLASS
